Just a word about this
How can the lefty goon squad justify going after Miss California for having the exact same position on Gay Marriage that the President has?
Now i appreciate that to have a leftist view point you’ve really got to have an incredible ability to ignore your own cognative dissonance (or at least avoid facts with a passion.)
But this is outrageous even for them.
The irony is compounded when you think of the cardinal sin to the leftist: Hypocracy.

To be more accurate -

Well, I don’t think conservatives have quite the venom attached to ‘hypocrisy’ that liberals do. Sure, both sides magnify inconsistencies and jump up and doing pointing at them a bit much. But for liberals it seems to be (other than disagreeing with them) pretty much the only “moral failing” someone can have.
Lawrence Auster hit this idea really well (as did Neil Stephenson in Diamond Age actually.) I’ll have to go dig it up.

The lefties do tend to whip that word out a bit often, and too rarely recognize when it’s applicable to their own…though it’s somewhat understandable given the amazing numbers of neocon pseudo-conservatives who get caught with boys in their pants and spending increases on their to-do lists.

Indeed.
But it’s very much like the overspending in that regard. It’s no good when anybody does it. One big problem is when A does it and uses “Well B does it!” as an excuse.
It’s no more ok that they do it because we do it than it is the other way around. That’s their moral relativism argument.
I also find that calls of hypocrisy go out for “behavior against ‘presumed’ moral claims” rather than against violation of someone’s stated position.
I had this argument (over twitter) with someone about her presumption of what makes a Christian a Christian and the “hypocrisy” of people who didn’t behave the way SHE felt they thought their self definition must be. It was really quite convoluted.
Add to this that liberals very rarely ever make claim of moral principle. Insofar as they do not, it becomes impossible to call them hypocrites. There’s something important in there and I haven’t quite put my finger on it.
(ps, if you use the same email, real or not, I don’t have to keep re-approving ;)

Come to think of it, this is the ultimate fallacy of liberal “tolerance.” Liberals are only tolerant of other views and ideas until they actually encounter them.
What they seem to mean by Tolerance is that behavior must be entirely unregulated. Not that people actually may think differently. This came through when I actually pinned someone down once. (The exact quote he used was “I guess what I’m saying is that I want socialism for everybody but me.”)
