I figured out several of the things that were sucking the life out of the battery on my newest toy. I had auto-sync set to a pretty retarded polling frequency for email, contacts, etc. So it was hitting the network every 5 minutes or so.
When I cut that nonsense out the battery life stretched out to something quite reasonable.

I had a similar problem with a new IPAQ, where the battery wouldn’t last the night. Some googling turned up a bug where WiFi was polling like mad without the indicator displaying. A simple, but not intuitive fix solved that problem and I love my toy again.

Hmm… I have an iPaq that was quickly retired for similar reasons. It never occurred to me to check that. I’ll have to give that a shot.
