Look… I appreciate that there’s all kinds of cultural historic value in New Orleans.

But people… Listen…

You built a fucking city below sea level in a major hurricane corridor. It’s like the Sam Kinisson bit about living in the middle east then bitching about the food.

MOVE!

Really!

As my buddy says: “Sea level is gonna win.”

I know, I know “But..but… New ORLEANS!” It doesn’t matter if it’s going to be nearly destroyed every few years.

My sympathy is remarkably limited for people who keep going back to live in a hole in the ground.

It’s like wizzing on the electric fence and expecting not to get shocked THIS time.

Mmm Da!

This has been stuck in my head forever. They used to cut in to The Great Space Coaster with these little guys sometimes.

Youtube is awesome :)

Be a bit patient. I’m workin’ on stuff.

Should be something here of SOME substance (at least in a “get rolling again” sort of way) early to mid next week.

What would be exceptionally helpful is if ThinkOrSwim’s software platform operated natively in a Linux environment.

I’m just sayin’.

It would make my life markedly easier.

A couple links and nonsense.

This defies all… well… just go look.
ChoreWars

I want to go on record and say that would NEVER have worked on me.

Then there’s this particular piece of awesomitude:

(ht: Brian)

as is this rather disturbing threshold-crossing piece of animation.

Lifelike Animation.

The cheek movement doesn’t seem quite right to me. It’s just not quite expressive enough. Unless of course the actress they used is particularly dull.

I think SdB has it right in the comments over at Brian’s that it seems a bit like rotoscoping.

Heard this morning on CNBC:

“More people support the building nuclear power plants than ever before. But is this a case of dishonest answers to the pollsters? We’ll be back with that and more…”

Just a thought

There’s a decided positive aspect to the nightmare being perpetrated by the nostalgic KGB thugs in Moscow: They’ve forced the lens on the absolutely chicanery that is the obamessiahs policy while pulling McCain’s strength out and forced it to the forefront in the same stroke.

Putin has exposed his mustache twirling impatience at getting the old boys back together into the fall campaign season and frankly, that media manufactured bugeared freak and his envenomed wife can’t compete on that stage.

Apparently I was wrong. The future was years ago.

Meet Gordon, probably the world’s first robot controlled exclusively by living brain tissue.

Creepy. I’ve got all kinds of setups I’d love to play with, given a framework like that.

Could you just give the thing a palette with the raw data from the CCDs and microphones, then some outputs that would move the thing around and see what happened?

Yes yes, I know. Overly simplistic. But still. FUN!

The future was yesterday

Yeah haven’t been posting. Life’s been busy. All the busyness itself starts at pretty damn good and goes up precipitously from there.

But there are a few things missing lately.

I was going to make this a long rambling post (he says in sentence five) but I’m not sure I’ve got the energy at the moment to do so.

The market’s going sideways so I’m backing off from trading until the after-lunch uptake in volume and then I’ll see what’s going on then. It’s one of those lessons that seems like an obvious one, but came hard. You have to trade the market you have.

I had a couple profoundly shitty trading weeks where I failed to take in to account the larger context. The exact same intraday chart can mean any of several things depending on the direction of the context in which it’s operating. So the value of indicators and trends isn’t quite so absolute.

But I seem to have squared that issue away with a couple solid moves this week, so I’m in a much better spot about all that.

Why so serious?

incredible.

Ledger made the rest of the cast look like a bunch of middle school drama geeks.
