grrr…..
There’s a special place in hell for unions…
NY1: NY 1 To GoAfter repeatedly warning transit workers not to walk off the job, both Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Governor George Pataki had some harsh words for the Transport Workers Union Tuesday, on the first day of a massive strike that brought New York City’s transit system to a halt, threatening businesses and stifling movement across the five boroughs.
“The TWU has decided that their demands are more important than the law, the city and the people they serve,” said Bloomberg. “This is not only an affront to the concept of public service, it is a cowardly attempt by Roger Toussaint and the TWU to bring the city to its knees to create leverage for their own bargaining position.”
Pataki also had nothing but contempt for the strike, promising stiff penalties for the union and its members.
