My Yahoo for Humans
But what does it MEAN!?!
New My Yahoo Beta, Featuring RSS and Atom (Jeremy Zawodny’s blog)Back in January, I wrote about the My Yahoo RSS module that went into public beta testing. But what I didn’t write about, for obvious reasons, was the thinking about the future of My Yahoo that was going on after that launch.
This is clearly a different world than when My Yahoo was a New Thing. Personalization on the Web is Old News. Aggregation and Syndication are some of the hottest topics around these days. But the difference between old school My Yahoo aggregation and today’s RSS and Atom driven aggregation is that it’s a decentralized model.
HOPEFULLY what this means is that several of the civilians I know (yes you know who you are) will get off their butts and start looking at syndicated content instead of going to individual blogs, etc.
I really need the people I know to be up to speed on the world. Come on people (*snaps obnoxiously in your face*) wake up! Those thunder thighs of information overload are not going to go away by themselves. It’s time to digest that information and aggregate to the oldies!
